Isolation and Characterization of Bacterial Endophytes from Maize Genotypes Varying in Resistance against Macrophomina phaseolina

چکیده

The present work aims to isolate and characterize the bacterial endophytes associated with different maize genotypes varying in resistance disease reaction against Macrophomina phaseolina. A total of 50 endophytic bacteria were isolated from root stem healthy plants at 30 DAS, 60 DAS by using two media like TSA, NA medium maximum number population recovered followed all TSA was found be most suitable for deciphering diversity. characterized on basis morphological parameters viz., size, shape, colour, margin texture, elevation, gram staining it observed that Gram positive (68.0 %) formed dominant group. colony characterization revealed circular forms (38.0 dominated. Among features colonies entire margins (66.0 convex elevation (44.0 dominating.

Evaluation of antifungal activity of Meliaceae family against Macrophomina phaseolina

Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid is a soil-borne fungal pathogen that causes root rot disease in more than 500 plant species but no registered fungicide is available for its control. The present study was carried out to investigate the antifungal activity of aqueous leaf extracts of Azadirachta indica A. Juss., Melia azedarach L. and Toona ciliata Roxb. (Meliaceae) against M. phaseolina. Aq...

Relatedness of Macrophomina phaseolina isolates from tallgrass prairie, maize, soybean and sorghum.

Agricultural and wild ecosystems may interact through shared pathogens such as Macrophomina phaseolina, a generalist clonal fungus with more than 284 plant hosts that is likely to become more important under climate change scenarios of increased heat and drought stress. To evaluate the degree of subdivision in populations of M. phaseolina in Kansas agriculture and wildlands, we compared 143 iso...

BIOPESTICIDAL ACTIVITY OF Calotropis procera L. AGAINST Macrophomina phaseolina

BACKGROUND Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] is an important pulse crop globally. This imperative crop is severely affected by charcoal rot disease caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid. In the present study, the leaves of Calotropis procera L. were tested for their antifungal potential against M. phaseolina. MATERIALS AND METHODS Various concentrations i.e. 1%, 2.5%, 4%, 5.5% an...

Isolation and characterization of bacterial endophytes of Curcuma longa L.

Fourteen endophytic bacterial isolates were isolated from the rhizome of Curcuma longa L. were characterized on the basis of morphology, biochemical characteristics and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. The isolates were identified to six strains namely Bacillus cereus (ECL1), Bacillus thuringiensis (ECL2), Bacillus sp. (ECL3), Bacillus pumilis (ECL4), Pseudomonas putida (ECL5), and Clavibacter ...

Bacterial endophytes from wild maize suppress Fusarium graminearum in modern maize and inhibit mycotoxin accumulation

Wild maize (teosinte) has been reported to be less susceptible to pests than their modern maize (corn) relatives. Endophytes, defined as microbes that inhabit plants without causing disease, are known for their ability to antagonize plant pests and pathogens. We hypothesized that the wild relatives of modern maize may host endophytes that combat pathogens. Fusarium graminearum is the fungus tha...
